Jesus said, “The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve.” Christian counseling is one of the most important ministries in the Body of Christ today. People everywhere are searching for guidance, healing, and biblical answers to life’s challenges.
The Christian Counseling Concentration prepares students to minister to individuals, couples, and families using biblical wisdom and practical counseling skills. Students learn how to help people navigate difficult seasons of life while growing stronger in their faith.
This program equips students with training in:
• Biblical counseling principles
• Crisis counseling and pastoral care
• Marriage and family counseling
• Substance abuse counseling
• Adolescent counseling
• Group counseling
• Spirit-led ministry through the Holy Spirit
Students may also take any of these courses individually without enrolling in a full degree program.
Courses in the Christian Counseling Concentration
CHC 3100 – Introduction to Christian Counseling
Introduces the biblical foundation of counseling and the process of helping individuals address life challenges through Christian guidance.
CHC 3101 – Christian Ethics in Counseling
Examines the ethical responsibilities of Christian counselors and the biblical standards that guide counseling practice.
CHC 3102 – Counseling Techniques
Provides training in practical counseling skills and introduces effective techniques for helping individuals resolve personal problems.
CHC 3103 – Crisis Counseling
Equips students to respond to crisis situations with wisdom, compassion, and practical intervention strategies.
CHC 3104 – Substance Abuse Counseling
Explores the causes and effects of addiction and provides biblical approaches for helping individuals and families overcome substance abuse.
CHC 3105 – Adolescent Counseling
Focuses on counseling teenagers and understanding the emotional, social, and spiritual challenges of adolescence.
CHC 4106 – Group Counseling
Introduces the principles of group counseling, group dynamics, and leadership strategies for effective group ministry.
CHC 4107 – The Holy Spirit and Counseling
Examines the role of the Holy Spirit in counseling and the importance of Spirit-led ministry in helping others.
CHC 4108 – Abnormal Human Behavior
Provides an overview of psychological disorders and abnormal behaviors while emphasizing compassionate Christian care.
CHC 4109 – Counseling for Special Populations
Prepares students to counsel individuals from diverse backgrounds and those facing unique personal challenges.
CHC 4110 – Marriage Counseling
Examines the biblical covenant of marriage and equips students to help couples strengthen and restore their relationships.
